pottery commemorative mug by Wood & Hulme, Staffordshire, 1905, transfer-printed with full-length portraits of Hirst and Rhodes, with legend: "George H. Hirst Yorkshire's celebrated all round cricketer, his record score against Leicestershire (341) May 1905" and "Wilfred Rhodes Yorkshire's celebrated bowler," maker's mark on base, 4 in. (10.2 cm.) high.

Hirst's 341 against Leicetershire stands high among his many records, the biggest score made by a Yorkshireman until Hutton's 364 against Australia at the Oval thirty-three years later. He was at the crease for seven hours, and his innings included a six and 53 fours.
