Charlotte Theresia Catherina Köhler (1892-1977) was one of the great Dutch actresses of her time. In 1917 she took the drama certificate. She became a star when she played in Dostojevski's The Gentle in 1926. From 1929 to 1953 she worked with several theatrical companies and played Badeloch, Medea, Lady Macbeth, Maria Stuart (Schiller), The Fool of Chaillot (Giraudoux), St. Joan (Shaw), Jenny in Brecht's Three Pennies Opera, The mother in O'Neils' Love under the Elms and Electra (Giraudoux, 1937).
