Lot Essay

Les gardeuses de vaches, which bears the inscription 'Vestibule 35 au 37' on the reverse was, in the early 1900s, hanging in the corridor adjoining the flats of Paul Durand-Ruel (35 rue de Rome - photographed below standing in his gallery) and his son Joseph (37 rue de Rome).
