An unusual late 19th/early 20th-Century French pill-maker,

The pill-maker comprises a white-metal platform on a tapering foot and with a round handle on a baluster turned column at the centre. As well as the maker's stamp, it is stamped with APPAREIL BREVETE FRANCE ET ETRANGER and FÉRICÔNE 5 GRAMMES. Around its circumference are twelve round slots into which fit the pill-holders. Each of these is in the form of a hollow cone, of the same white metal, hinged at the bottom to split open lengthways, and with two small lips at the top for ease of removal from the pill-maker. They are each stamped E. FINOT and BTE S.G.D.G.. The underside of the mahogany base has three bun feet and a printed label reading AVIS IMPORTANT. - En cas d'accident, il suffit, pour avoir un globe qui s'adapte parfaitement à ce socle, de rappeler le numéro inscrit sur cette etiquette.
