The round lenses are framed in brass, each with two small loops on the edge, though which is threaded some cord intended to hook over the ears and secure the spectacles in place. The brass bridge is hinged at the point of contact with the lense frames. The round case is carved in relief on both top and bottom to show a dragon and various foliate decorations. The lid is attached by means of a (modern) length of cord.
