An unusual 19th-Century level and angle indicator,

Details
An unusual 19th-Century level and angle indicator,
by Fletcher & Sinclair, 62 Duke Street, Liverpool, in a mahogany case -- 25.6cm. (10 1/8in.) wide

See Colour Illustration

Set into the mahogany case are three dials: a paper sundial for 50° latitude; the indicator itself, with an attractively-shaped index and graduations around the circumference in four quadrants; and a compass with blued-iron needle. Instructions for use are pasted to the inside of the lid, and the front edge of the case functions as a sight, with an aperture at one end and a pinhole at the other.
Special notice
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis
