A 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound binocular microscope,
signed on the foot BAKER 244 high Holborn London, in a mahogany carrying case -- 47.3cm. (18 5/8in.) high

The binocular body-tube has rack and pinion adjustment to the eyepieces, a Wenham prism, and rack and pinion focusing with micrometer fine adjustment. The mechanical stage has a large condensor and diaphragm and a plano-concave mirror beneath. The main limb tilts between two shaped uprights on a Y-shaped foot, fixed to a mahogany base board. Accessories include: five eyepieces; Baker ¼ and 1½in. objectives and a 1/16 immersion, in canisters; a live box slider; and some amateur slide preparations. The case has two drawers, a brass carrying handle and key.
