A large 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound binocular microscope,
signed on the foot WATSON & SON 313 High Holborn London, in a fitted mahogany carrying case -- 47cm. (18½in.) high

The binocular barrel has rack and pinion eyepiece adjustment and focusing, with micrometer fine adjustment and a Wenham prism. It is raised on a curved limb, on which are mounted the fully mechanical stage, mechanical substage condensor mount and diaphragm, and a plano-concave mirror. The limb tilts between two uprights from the partially-raised Y-shaped foot. Accessories include: two eyepieces; four objectives in canisters by Clark & Page (3in.), Ross (¼in.) Leitz (3) and Hawksley & Sons (exported 2 oil immersion); a table-standing bull's-eye condensor; stage forceps; and a glass stage plate. The case has three drawers with ivory pulls and a brass carrying handle.
