A fine late 19th-Century model of a single cylinder centre pillar rotative beam pumping engine,
with brass bound mahogany lagged cylinder 2 7/16inch bore x 5inch stroke, inward facing truncated 'D' valve chest with displacement lubricator (later) barrelled valve operating links with shaped corsshead and counterweights, lift-off eccentric rod, delicate parallel motion with gibbed and cottered bearings, the anchor link bearings mounted on the entablature in twin supports on two cylinderhead mounted tapered columns, the cast fluted centre column supporting trunnions for the cast beam with barrelled rod driven feed pump and barrelled fluted connecting rod. Other details include webbed crank, barrelled eccentric rod, bevel gear ([?] for a missing governor), spoked flywheel, bearing oil pots, hand rails and other details, finished in green and black with yellow lining and polished brightwork, wood base -- 76 x 100.5cm. (30 x 39½in.)
