"There is something about a person being naked in front of me that invokes consideration. You could even call it chivalry on my part." (L. Freud, in: W. Feaver, Lucian Freud, London 2002, p. 35).

This work is a preparatory drawing for the banner of Lucian Freud's exhibition at the Hayward Gallery in London in 1994.

The sitter for Drawing for Poster I is also the sitter for Small Naked Portrait (1973-74), Naked Portrait (1972-73) and is also portrayed in one of the artists most celebrated paintings Large Interior W9 (1973).
