London silver hallmarks for 1744
The straight single-edged blade double-edged at the point, with a narrow fuller bordering the back on each face, the hilt with scallop-shaped downturned gadrooned shell, the gadroons ending in scrolls, slender knuckle-guard (slightly distorted), domed cap-pommel en suite with the shell, and fluted ivory grip, in original leather-covered wooden scabbard with silver chape (frog-hook missing, leather distressed), silversmith's mark I.S.
