A SWEDISH INFANTRY OFFICER'S DRESS SWORD
Late 18th Century
With tapering blade of hollow triangular section etched and gilt at the forte with trophies and floral motifs against a blued ground, the gilt-brass hilt of characteristic form, with a pair of short fluted quillons, the shells pierced with a fine trellis pattern and, together with the quillon block, cast and chased in relief with acanthus scrolls, ovoidal fluted pommel, and wire-bound wooden grip, with tasselled gold and red-striped sword-knot (associated?), in leather scabbard (repaired) with very deep gilt-brass mouth-locket and chape, the former with a long slender frog-hook
