AN ENGLISH SILVER-HILTED SMALL-SWORD
London, circa 1760-70
With colichemarde blade of flattened hexagonal section etched at the forte with panels of strapwork, shell of almost circular outline, but with a raised rim simulating normal double-shells with the spaces between them at each end filled with fan-shaped motifs, two short lobe-shaped quillons, vertically fluted pommel with button, and original wooden grip bound with silver ribbon and plaited silver wire, silversmith's mark of George Fayle
