A SCOTTISH BASKET-HILTED BROADSWORD
Second quarter of the 18th Century
With earlier fullered blade, each face stamped 'Andrea Farara' and 'Soli Deo Gloria', the iron hilt comprising guard of characteristic form of slender rounded bars framing rectangular panels pierced with triangles and circles, fore-guards, flat scrolled rear quillon, associated fluted pommel of flattened conical shape, later polished wooded grip, and leather liner faced with red cloth
