A 20-BORE CONTINENTAL FLINTLOCK SPORTING RIFLE
Mid-18th Century
With two-stage sighted barrel cut with shallow grooves stopping short of the muzzle, the top of the octagonal breech with an indistinct mark, plain tang, plain rounded lock, stained full stock (minor bruising and old inset repairs) carved in relief with scrolls behind the barrel tang, raised cheek-piece, brass mounts including scroll side-plate and butt-plate cast and chased with scrollwork in relief on the tang, set trigger, horn fore-end cap, and associated horn-tipped ramrod (in uncleaned condition with some surface rust and patination)
