A FLINTLOCK BLUNDERBUSS
Late 17th Century
With massive brass barrel in three stages with a reinforcing ring at the belled muzzle, the breech section octagonal changing to polygonal and with slotted ramp at the rear, the surface engraved with strawberry and acanthus foliage, scrollwork, and a flower-head, plain iron tang, flat lock retained by three later side-nails and fitted with dog catch behind the cock, walnut three-quarter stock (minor defects, probably an early working replacement), raised panel at the barrel tang, no butt-plate, plain brass trigger-guard, single brass baluster ramrod-pipe, and later wooden ramrod, London proof marks, barrelsmith's mark T under a fleur-de-lys
