拍品專文

This is an unusual example of Orkney chair design, since usually black oat straw and bent grass form the back. In this example, the back is made from laths of pine held together with thin cleft coppice wood. These bands were commonly used to bind fish barrels and suggest that this chair was made by a cooper.
