The rectangular two division tray with pierced gallery, decorated to simulate burrwood, the divisions labelled Post and Delivery with a frieze drawer, inscribed Stamps and Wafers respectively, the arched backplate with fleur de lis cresting, the underside with indistinct makers mark of Loveridge & Co.

COMPARATIVE LITERATURE:
H.Jones Story of the Japan, Tin Plate and Iron Braziers Trades, London 1900.
William Shoolbred and Henry Loveridge established a works in Meridale Street, Wolverhampton, circa 1848. Loveridge's was one of the largest producers of japanned wares, both tin and paper, in the country by the third quarter of the nineteenth century. With the decline of the trade they moved into other forms of domestic metalwork, the firm closed in 1927.
