The sides with engraved brass frets showing squirrels and later red glass panels, the well engraved and matted gilt-brass dial signed on a reserve IACOB/GRATZL/PRAG above aperture for mock pendulum, with engraved winding holes, date aperture, silvered subsidiary rings with blued and gilt painted centres, for month (with zodiac), strike/no strike and quarters/no quarters, blued steel hands, the movement adapted from grande sonnerie to chain fusee timepiece, with verge escapement, lacking strike, quarter and repeat work, with repeat signature to the well engraved back plate -- 17¼in. (43.5cm.) high to hilt of handle
