An English oak and mahogany longcase clock
The stepped top hood with dentil mouldings and outset fluted columns, the mahogany-banded trunk door flanked by fluted half columns above blind-fret carved blocks, with raised panel to the plinth and skirting on bracket feet, the 11in. square cut-away brass dial with cherub and coronet spandrels to Roman chapter ring signed W.m Taylor Bridgnorth, with ringed inner border to the matted centre, arched date aperture and winding holes with plain brass ringing, later hands, the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement with rack strike on bell; associated, dial and movement mid 18th century, case circa 1785 -- 77in. (196cm.) high
