A George III oak and mahogany longcase clock, circa 1780
The brass-capped swan neck pediment with brass ball and eagle finial and verre eglomisé panels, the trunk with reeded half columns and the plinth with canted angles, on bracket feet, the 13in. cut-away brass dial with mask and foliate spandrels to a wide silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, silvered centre with foliate scroll and chevron engraving, subsidiary seconds and date rings, blued steel hands, signed above a pianted rolling moon in the arch Thomas Moss Frodsham, the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 92in. (234cm.) high
