A Regency mahogany and brass-mounted striking table clock, circa 1810
With silk-backed arched fish scale side frets and glazed rear door, engraved gilt-brass front frets, the white painted Roman dial with pierced and blued steel hands, signed Desbois & Wheeler/GRAYS INN PASSAGE, later(?) strike/silent lever above dial, falseplate to the eight day twin gut fusee movement with five pillar shouldered plates, front plate stamped HANDLEY/&/MOORE 2144, anchor escapement with strike and trip repeat (lacking) on bell, the back plate with engraved border and repeat Desbois & Wheeler signature, with holdfast for the pendulum with calibrated rod -- 14¾in. (37.5cm.) high to hilt of handle
