Lot Essay
Eugene Julienne (fl.1800-1874) was a porclain painter at Sèvres. In 1856 he painted two vases for the King of France to give the King of Portugal. He also produced lithographs including the cover for Traite du Coloris des Lithographies, by Meilhal, 1836. He is known to have painted three other fans: Francois I at court, sold at Christie's South Kensington, 25 May, 1999, lot 279; the Crowning of St. Ursula and a fan sold at Christie's South Kensington on 4 December 2001
