A hussif, pieced from diamond-shaped felts of military costume, each piece outlined in and embroidered with coloured beads, the upper section embroidered Prince of Wales LXXXII and with a beadwork fleur-de-lys, the central section embroidered with the names of various battles including Sevastopol, Penninsula and Lucknow, inset with a central black and white photograph of a cavalry soldier, stamped on the reverse W WEST Artist and Photographer Maidstone, backed in black silk, with three tassels at the base, circa 1860s
