An exhibition standard 50ft:1in scale waterline model of Elder's & Fyffes passenger/cargo ship of 1924. The hull of the model is built up from wood and finished in grey, white and light brown with pale green decks. The model is detailed with masts, derricks, rigging and radio aerial, anchors, winch, deck rails, companionways, hatches, deck winches, deck houses, superstructure with wheelhouse, deck lights, awning stanchions, ventilators, stayed funnel with safety valve extension pipe, engine room lights, aft helm and binnacle, six lifeboats in davits and much other fine detailing. The model is displayed on a painted, moulded seascape.
4 x 12 in. (11.5 c 30.5cm.) cased dimensions.

Lot Essay

The Cavina was built in 1924 and had a GRT of 6923. In 1957 she was sold to Cia.Naviera Lanena and renamed Catusha. After 24 years of service she was scrapped in 1958.
