Lot Essay

The aptly-named "one-design" boats are the most common of the many yachts and dinghy classes. Primarily for inshore racing and often from a single builder, such boats can compete against themselves without any handicap, the result of the race depending solely upon the sailing abilities of the crew.
This work was originally painted to accompany a companion piece by Dawson entitled "The Start of the Race" which has identical dimensions.
