Both, the Parisian cabinet-maker Claude Chapuis (n.d.) and his celebrated Brussels counterpart Jean-Joseph Chapuis worked during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Jean-Joseph, undoubtedly the most successful of the two, supplied a wide variety of pieces to the Chateau de Laeken from 1806 onwards which also included chairs (D. Ledoux-Lebard, Le Mobilier Francais du XIXe Sièccle 1795-1889, Paris, 1989, pp. 118-121).
