A long "Paisley" shawl, woven in coloured wools with deep end borders of elongated cones interspersed with tall leafy palmette-bearing stems, with a residual stellar field of black wool, woven with the letters LF to each corner, Lyon Frères, circa 1860-70--136in. x 66in. (340cm x 165cm.); and another similar shawl, woven with similar motifs around a rectangular field of black wool invaded by arabesques and curving fronds--148in. x 68in. (370cm. x 170cm.) (2)
