A WALNUT, EBONISED AND FLORAL MARQUETRY BAROMETER
19th century, possibly incorporating earlier elements
The shaped cresting above a canted cornice with two brass balls, above Solomonic columns framing a panel of floral sprays above a brass panel inscribed with the various states of weather, Summer on the left and Winter on the right, with vertical mercury tube surmounted by a turned finial, with floral marquetry panel below terminating in a ring-turned reservoir, the brass panel inscribed 'Somalvico. Fecit LONDINI AD 1709'
