Lot Essay

This jardiniere, probably from South India or Ceylon, has similar pierced foliate carving as an ebony burgomaster chair, illustrated in J. Veenendaal Furniture, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India, Delft, 1985, p.111, fig.132.
