A Large Bronze Figure of Parvati
South India, Vijayanagar Period, 14th Century
Standing in tribhanga on a lotus pedestal over a raised square plinth with prongs issuing on both sides, her right hand raised in kataka mudra and the pendent left in lola mudra, wearing a closely fitted dhoti tied with a sash at the waist, multi-tiered necklaces and beaded bracelets, her face with large almond-shaped eyes and aquiline nose, her hair arranged in a tiered karandamukuta, backed by a flowerhead-shaped aureole
