The artist's works often reflect the life and events of Calcutta where he lives and works. Floods are common in the city during the monsoons. Here, however, the artist has added another layer of meaning by combining human faces with the inanimate stones in the image. By likening humans to soulless and worthless objects, he is reflecting his own disillusionment with the state of society around him.
