The rectangular back with a florally carved tablet toprail surmounted by a grotesque mask flanked by scrolls, above an arched panel inlaid with a floral spray and perching bird, the scrolling downswept arms and baluster supports above a plank seat an baluster legs joined by a box stretcher, with label to the underside inscribed LAVANSCHY SA LAUSANNE
