These vessels appear to have had ceremonial functions and were placed in burials. A similar candlestick is illustrated by Y. Mino and K. Tsiang, Ice and Green Clouds: Traditions of Chinese Celadon, Bloomington, Indiana, 1986, p. 100, no. 35, with related examples illustrated nos. 35a and 35b.
