The sides finely painted with three panels of scholars and attendants, and a panel of two court ladies with a child, alternating with panels of various birds perched in flowering branches, with alternating panels of further flowering branches and pairs of birds below, all within molded borders below a yellow-ground cloud collar on the shoulder and panels of scholars on the neck, the facets of the covers painted with various birds and flowers below the figure of a seated hound
