Recently removed by Christie's staff from an underground, purpose built, cellar maintaining proper storage conditions.
Underneath the false floor of a private home we witnessed the true passion of a Gentleman. The cellar, designed both with case & bottle capacity, was the vinous engine behind a life spent travelling abroad, patronizing the famous châteaux of France and sharing his bounty with family and friends. Many of the wines were bought in original case quantity and shipped direct and have lain undisturbed since their West Coast arrival. Among the great Cru Classé contained herein is a fabulous array of Pétrus, vintages 1948-1989.
