A TREMENDOUS PRIVATE COLLECTION FROM THE CELLAR OF A CONNOISSEUR: Part II

The following lots 1066-1119 comprise the second half of a great cellar first offered in our Los Angeles March 2003 catalogue. So vast was the selection being offered that several of the most plentiful lots have been carefully reserved in our temperature controlled warehouse especially for the early Autumn season.

This cellar was amassed by a Gentleman who discovered wine late in life and began collecting in the mid 1980s. Purchased mainly from friends who worked the wine trade in Napa Valley and direct from the wineries themselves. Clearly a red wine lover, the entire collection was composed almost entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon based wines.

The custom built cellar itself is perfectly temperature & humidity controlled. It features a bar and dining area as it was used on occasion to entertain both family and friends and is clearly the central part of a wineloving household. NOTE: Older samples taken upon inspection were shown to be in excellent condition for their age.

Château Mouton-Rothschild--Vintage 1988
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
"...Yet still youthful looking, with a rich, toasty nose which then reminded me of warm tea and, after an hour,'sodden wholemeal biscuits'. Palate full of fruit, delicious flavour, easy to drink (all the wines at these '10-year' tastings were served during dinner), very rich but a slightly bitter finish." MB, Vintage Wine.
