Edo period (16th-17th century), signed Yoshihisa Myochin
The sixty-two plate russet iron helmet fitted with a four-stage tehen kanamono (decorative ring on the top of the bowl) carved with chrysanthemums and gilded, the peak applied with a gilt-bronze fukurin (rolled-metal edge) and a gilt-metal forecrest formed as a stylized mandarin orange blossom, the five-lame terraced shikoro (neck guard) lacquered black and laced in blue and on the edges in orange, the fukigaeshi (turnbacks) applied with printed leather; gilt-bronze ring and silk cord on back
