A Lacquered Half-Mask (Saru-bo)
Edo Period (17th century), signed Myochin Muneaki
Forged with scalloped edges on the cheeks and with deep wrinkles and a protruding chin, lacquered with a chin-tuft in silver, two pegs under the chin for helmet cords, pierced plum blossom ventilation holes under the chin, interior lacquered red; fitted with a five-lame solid plate throat guard lacquered brown and laced in blue and orange
