According to the accompanying letters, these lyrics were obtained in early June 1987 when Guns N' Roses perfromed at the New York nightclub, CBGB. The lyrics were used on stage by Axl Rose who apparently commented at the time that it was only the second time they had performed Patience, which may explain why the lyrics offered here are slightly different to the version released as a single in 1988.
