Cf. Gaye Blake Roberts, Mason's, The First Two Hundred Years (London, 1996), p. 102, pl. 104 for a large serving-dish with the same pattern. The 'JAMES LAWRANCE' mark relates to the chef at King's College, Cambridge who was responsible for ordering specially-commissioned wares created by Mason's for each college.
