7 November 1789: The Khusrau Bagh (garden) just outside Allahbad was originally built as a pleasure retreat for Akbar's son, Prince Salim, later Emperor Jahangir (ruled 1605-27), who in turn made it over to his son, Khusrau. When the latter rebelled against his father in 1606, he was imprisoned there to be finally handed over to his step-brother, later Shah Jahan, and murdered in 1622. His body was transferred to the Bhag to be interred.
