(Text a little browned, occasional scattered spots). Original cloth (lightly rubbed). PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed on front endpaper: "H. M. Stanley Esq. With best regards G. Grey. Dec 30th 1891". Second edition.
The above books were presented to Stanley by the authors during his lecture tour of Australia and New Zealand from October 1891.
Together with a scrap book with cuttings of Stanley's letters to the South Africa, December 4, 1897 to January 22, 1898, a compliment slip signed by Edward Mathers and dated 2 Feb 1898, two sets of photographic prints, one depicting Cecil Rhodes' funeral in Capetown 1902; and two other books including James W. Davidson's The Island of Formosa Past and Present (London, 1903), inscribed by the author to Lady Stanley, June 1903. (5)
