Lot Essay

The relatively simple architectural form of this cupboard is in keeping with traditional Irish country furniture in its modest functionality. Cupboards of this type were used to store food and clothing. The deep fielded panels, some with triangular sides, fan carving and simple capitals are characteristic of the south west of Ireland, namely counties Limerick and Tipperary.
