Jacht, decorated with various animals and two lansquenets or hunters on a ochre and green mound, within a ochre ring, with quarter rosette leaves in Spaartechniek corners
4 x 5 tiles, 54 x 67.5 cm.

Lot Essay

During the 16th and the early 17th century engravings with hunting scenes were used as a source of inspiration for this type of tiles.
The animals were thence depicted out of context, but 'two hunters' were always present in the centre of the action. These tile panels were subsequently called a Jacht.
