The angled tapering double-edged watered steel blade with medial ridge, two signature inscription cartouches above on each side, the hilt of smooth outline covered with a gold damascened floral lattice, the green velvet covered wooden sheath with elaborately pierced gilt copper chape and locket with interlaced arabesques, very slightly rubbed

The four inscription cartouches on both sides each contain the same signature: the work of Asad Allah. These are poorly written and this, coupled with a possible interpretation of the other words in the inscription indicates that they are later additions copying one of the inscriptions of Asad Allah Isfahani, the famous sword blade maker under Shah 'Abbas.
