AN OTTOMAN MOTHER-OF PEARL, TORTOISESHELL AND HORN VENEERED CASKET
Turkey, late 18th or early 19th century
Of rectangular form on raised extruded legs with hinged coved cover, the top with a central cusped cartouche containing scrolling motifs on a mother-of-pearl ground, the front similar, the sides with lozenge designs in the three materials, wood stringing, the interior with fitted hinged compartment for pens, silk brocade covering over the moulded paper original lining, areas of restoration to inlay
20½in. (51.6cm.) wide
