A PANEL OF FOUR IZNIK POTTERY TILES
Ottoman Turkey, circa 1570
The four square tiles painted in bole-red, emerald-green, turquoise and two shades of cobalt-blue within black outlines on a white ground, together forming a design of a central palmette containing floral motifs surrounded by pronounced red arabesques interlaced with tendrils issuing green serrated leaves, blue floral sprays and rosettes and further palmettes, two tiles broken and repaired, one with various chips and losses around edge, one lacking the lower end, other small chips and damages
Overall 18½ x 18¾ in. (47 x 47.7 cm.)
