South Caucasus, dated AH 1313/1895-6 AD
The shaded brick-red field with stylised flowerheads, hooked lozenges and triangles around a large central rectangular indigo hooked panel containing a floral cruciform motif flanked by stellar flowerheads, an angular mihrab arch containing the date, in a lemon-yellow hooked motif border between indigo linked S-motif, zigzag and chequered stripes, original kilim strip at both ends, one end with braided fringes, original selvages on both sides, overall excellent condition
