Lot Essay

A well-known architect, Hrenov supervised the construction and the restoring of more than one hundred buildings in St. Petersburg. He was also a watercolorist, his works depicting mainly animal scenes. At the request of Tsar Nicholas II, he executed a group of Imperial hunting scenes. He moved to the Far East after the revolution.
